A Short Explanation of SMATV Commercial TV Systems

Quinn Electronics started in 1980, right at the beginning of the SMATV technology. The larger TV networks were looking into using satellites to send their programming nationwide. When this technology was started they were using 20 foot and larger dishes. When this technology became available to more companies this became the birth of private cable TV companies. Every company large and small could now access many network and entertainment channels from across the US.

The big cable companies such as AT&T, Comcast, Charter, etc use this technology to build cable systems. Likewise, the technology can be used by hotels, motels, hospitals, prisons, and any other facilities that have a lot of TV viewers.
